During a recent visit to MD Anderson Cancer Center, Betsy’s Doctor, leading medical oncologist Dr. Joseph Ludwig, told Betsy and her husband that if he had $200,000 he could hire two researchers to focus their research efforts solely on Betsy’s specific form of cancer, dramatically accelerating the development of LMS treatments focusing on three principle aims:

• Identify the characteristics -- about LMS specifically – that make tumors grow and spread.
• Isolate and test the unique features of LMS that are potentially responsive to targeted treatment.
• Fast-track new LMS therapies from promising research into actual patient care.

The results will improve the survival of LMS patients, bringing about more effective and less toxic therapies.

As part of our efforts Dr. Ludwig has crafted a compressive research proposal outlining the goals of this specific research.
